The data center Problem
The traditional data center network has become overly complex, costly, and inefficient.
Data center network architectures require excessive switching tiers to work around low performance and low-density platform characteristics.
Growth in the number of users and applications is almost always accompanied by an increase in the number of "silos" of more devices—for both connectivity and security.
The additional capital expenses, rack space, power consumption, and management overhead contribute to the overall complexity of maintaining data center operations.
The Juniper Solution
Juniper Networks Data Center Infrastructure Solutions reduce the total
cost of network ownership with architectural innovations delivered via
a high-performance product portfolio to provide agility and flexibility.
Multiple switching tiers are collapsed, leading to a new simplified network
design requiring fewer devices and interconnections. Security services
are simplified by consolidating the "security sprawl" of traditional designs
into fewer high-capacity and high-performance platforms. Advanced routing
capabilities enhance application performance, security, and availability.
All of this running over a common operating system with a single management
system accelerates application deployments and leads to improved efficiencies
in space, power, cooling, and management.

The IT Infrastructure of the
Future: New Technologies in a Constrained Market
Gabriel Coimbra, Research & Consulting Director, IDC Portugal
Download da apresentação
In 2009, IT organizations will face more pressure than ever to
reduce costs, improve service levels and maximize IT flexibility.
Although IT transformation is difficult in any business climate,
the challenge is clearly exacerbated by the advent of new technologies
such as virtualization, multi-core, blades, etc. In this session,
Gabriel Coimbra will look at changing workload deployment patterns,
the advent of new service delivery platforms such as the cloud,
and the impact economic constraints will have on the shape of the
IT infrastructure landscape. |

Data Center Evolution: Simplifying
the network infrastructure
David Noguer Bau, EMEA Head of Carrier Ethernet and Data Center
Marketing, Juniper Networks, Inc.
Download da apresentação
Over the past years the demand for data centre services have been
experiencing a huge expansion boosted by the growth of content-rich
services such as IPTV and Web 2.0. With the increased bandwidth
available, enterprises are hosting more of their applications and
data in managed data centre facilities, as well as adopting the
Software-as-a-Service(SaaS) model. David Noguer Bau notes that there's
a long list of innovations ready to improve the overall efficiency
and scalability of the data centre, but network infrastructure complexity
may prevent such improvements - putting at risk the emerging business
models such as SaaS, OnDemand infrastructure, and more.
