Diamantino Costa, Founder & VP

Diamantino Costa (Dino) is co-founder and Executive Vice-President of Critical Software SA, an international software company headquartered in Coimbra, Portugal, with offices in Lisbon, Bucharest, Romania and San Jose, California, US. He is also a Board member of Critical’s subsidiary company in the UK, Critical Software Technologies Limited, with offices in Southampton. He is currently responsible for the overall Business Development, including R&D strategy.

He was formerly in charge of Business Development for Aeronautics, Space, De-fence and Transport markets at Critical Software, supervising European business operations.

Dino holds a BSc and an MSc in Informatics Engineering and Computer Systems Architecture from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. At Critical Software, he successfully growth and manage 2 business units operating on Space & Ground Software Systems, with a global customer base including the main world space agencies (NASA, ESA and JAXA) and leading Prime Contractors (Thales Alenia Space, EADS Astrium, etc).

Dino has been a researcher at the Dependable Systems Group at the Center for Informatics and Systems of the University of Coimbra since 1993 and prior to joining Critical Software. During his research activities, he has been author of more than 20 papers on conferences, workshops, magazines, and book chapters on the subject of computer software dependability. He is a member of IEEE since 1998.

Dino is currently based out of Coimbra, Portugal, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
